FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

Pendruccombe House is seeking dedicated Care Assistants to provide compassionate personal care to service users, supporting their dignity, independence and daily needs in a home-like environment. Reporting to the Matron/Manager, you will assist with routine tasks akin to family care from morning routines and mobility support to light housekeeping and social engagement  without undertaking clinical nursing duties. This role emphasises teamwork, resident empowerment and a caring approach to enhance quality of life for those with physical disabilities, temporary illnesses or end-of-life needs.

Your Responsibilities include:

• Assisting service users with personal care such as getting up/dressed, washing, bathing, toileting and managing incontinence, always respecting dignity.

• Supporting mobility and physical disabilities through help with aids, equipment care and safe movement around the home.

• Providing basic care for temporarily unwell residents, including minor dressings, bed nursing, feeding assistance and end-of-life support.

• Promoting mental and physical wellbeing by engaging in conversations, outings, reading, hobbies, recreations and group activities.

• Handling light domestic tasks like bed-making, room tidying, commode emptying, meal service/preparation, washing up and dining room clearance.

• Responding promptly to emergency bells, greeting visitors, answering doors/telephones and participating in staff/service user meetings.

• Maintaining accurate reports, inspecting residents’ clothing for repairs, reporting health/circumstance changes to nurses/managers and encouraging maximum independence.

Work Schedule

Flexible full-time or part-time hours available, tailored to business needs and including shifts to cover daily care requirements, with on-site parking provided for convenience.

You Will Have

• A caring, sensitive nature attuned to the needs of elderly, infirm or vulnerable individuals.

• Self-motivation, organisation and flexibility to work both as a team player and on your own initiative.

• Strong communication skills for interacting with residents, families and colleagues.

Requirements

• Essential personal qualities: self-motivated, organised, flexible, caring, sensitive, team-oriented yet independent, good communicator.

• Willingness to attend mandatory training and comply with home policies, Data Protection Act 1998 and Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.

• Commitment to confidentiality, resident dignity and independence.

• English language proficiency (preferred).

• must have right to work in the UK.

• Desirable:

• Prior care experience or familiarity with supporting physical disabilities/infirmity.
