FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

UK Export Finance seeks Software Engineers to build customer-centric digital services using NodeJS, supporting the organisation’s digital transformation to improve stakeholder relationships and case processing efficiency. You will develop scalable applications, integrate APIs, write comprehensive tests and collaborate across teams to deliver end-to-end services aligned with user needs and business outcomes in a modern government tech environment.

Your Responsibilities include:

• Developing NodeJS applications using Express.js or Nest.js frameworks, optimising for scalability and maintainability.

• Building RESTful/GraphQL APIs and integrating with third-party APIs, databases (NoSQL/SQL like MongoDB, MSSQL) and containerised microservices (Docker).

• Writing clean code with unit, integration and end-to-end tests, implementing security best practices and troubleshooting production issues.

• Researching/implementing new libraries/tools, maintaining technical documentation and staying current with NodeJS/web development trends.

• Communicating effectively with stakeholders (customers, product managers, engineers) to align technical decisions with project goals.

Work Schedule

Full-time or part-time flexible working patterns, office-based in London or Leeds with hybrid options typical for Civil Service digital roles.

You Will Have

• Strong practitioner-level skills in modern standards, programming/build processes, systems design and prototyping per DDaT framework.

• User-focused approach, information security awareness and ability to design solutions with embedded security controls.

• Excellent collaboration skills for multidisciplinary team environments and stakeholder communication.

Requirements

• Graduate-level education or relevant professional experience with evidence of continuing professional development.

• Experience with JavaScript/NodeJS/ExpressJS, Azure Cloud, NoSQL/SQL databases, REST/GraphQL APIs, Docker microservices, GitHub/Azure DevOps.

• Knowledge of SDLC, Technology Code of Practice and GDS/MOJ components.

• Right to work in the UK; successful candidates undergo security check (SC) clearance.
