FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust seeks Peer Support Workers for their Forensic Services Pathway as part of PCREF equity initiative. This role provides culturally appropriate support to Black/minorised service users in Community Forensic Mental Health Teams using lived mental health experience.

Your Responsibilities include:

• Working with service users, carers and families to design/deliver services through peer support and advocacy.

• Supporting Black service users to co-produce care plans, advocate effectively and understand options.

• Providing culturally congruent support embedding ACD approach and harm minimisation for substance misuse.

• Attending appointments, taking notes and speaking on behalf of service users when needed.

Work Schedule

Part-time 16 hours per week (0.4 WTE) across one of four borough CFMHT teams.

You Will Have

• Lived experience of mental health services to connect authentically with service users.

• Understanding of racism challenges within traditional mental health services for Black communities.

• Strong communication skills creating safe spaces where individuals feel respected and understood.

• Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary forensic mental health teams.
