FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Enhanced Care Healthcare Support Worker, you will deliver personalised, therapeutic care to patients with complex needs including dementia, delirium, mental health conditions, challenging behaviour, or physical limitations that impact safety, working across hospital wards to support recovery through sensitive monitoring and meaningful relationships. Holding a nationally recognised Care Certificate from acute settings, you’ll provide one-to-one or group support, facilitate tailored activities, use de-escalation techniques, and make independent adjustments within your competence while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. This vital role ensures compassionate, high-quality care treating all patients, relatives, and colleagues with respect and dignity in line with Trust values.

Your Responsibilities include:

• Support care/treatment programmes for enhanced needs patients, providing guidance to families/carers.

• Make appropriate care adjustments independently and communicate changes to registered professionals.

• Develop therapeutic relationships using empathetic communication and de-escalation for challenging behaviour.

• Assess situations, resolve issues within competence, and organise meaningful patient activities.

• Provide 1:1 supervision or group support per risk assessments and multidisciplinary plans.

Work Schedule

Full-time role.

Weekend availability required based on hospital needs.

Requirements

• Nationally recognised Care Certificate obtained in acute hospital setting.

• Experience supporting patients with enhanced/complex care needs.

• Weekend availability.
