FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
As Clinical Director for this well-established small animal veterinary group, you will lead a large multi-site team of 24 vets and 50+ nurses across orthopaedics, ECC, cardiology, exotics, internal medicine, imaging, and dentistry, shaping clinical standards with genuine autonomy and infrastructure support. Working closely with regional, medical, HR, and central teams, you will mentor senior colleagues, build consistency across sites, strengthen financial/operational performance, and elevate a thriving practice serving a countryside lifestyle with easy access to Bath, Bristol, and London. This leadership role offers real influence over protocols, culture, and growth in an RCVS-accredited 24/7 hospital environment.
The group provides modern facilities including laparoscopic theatres, digital/dental x-ray, ultrasound, CT scanner, onsite lab, and visiting ophthalmology specialists, backed by dedicated night nursing for seamless care continuity.
Your Responsibilities include:
• Guide clinical team decision-making, mentor vets/nurses, and establish consistent standards across multiple sites.
• Support senior colleagues through coaching, performance management, and professional development.
• Influence protocols via monthly online/quarterly in-person vet meetings with open clinician input.
• Drive financial and operational excellence while maintaining high clinical quality and team culture.
• Collaborate with leadership on strategic direction, leveraging referral-level support and facilities.
Work Schedule
Full-time permanent role.
Flexible based on multi-site leadership needs, with protected induction time.
You Will Have
• Experience guiding diverse clinical interests (orthopaedics, ECC, cardiology, exotics, etc.).
• Strong mentoring/coaching skills for senior vet/nurse development.
• Strategic vision for clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and team culture.
• Excellent communication for clinician meetings and cross-team collaboration.
Minimum Requirements
• MRCVS qualification and proven veterinary leadership experience.
• Ability to lead large clinical teams across multiple sites.
