FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Heart of Gold Homecare is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join its care team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals in settings such as assisted living and hospice care, helping them maintain comfort, dignity, and independence.
You will assist clients with daily activities, provide emotional support, and ensure their safety and wellbeing while working closely with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.
Your Responsibilities include:
• Assist clients with personal care tasks including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Prepare meals and ensure clients receive proper nutrition.
• Support clients with mobility and assist with lifting when necessary.
• Implement behaviour management strategies to encourage positive interactions.
• Administer medication as prescribed and monitor for any side effects.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to improve quality of life.
• Assist with dementia care by organising activities that stimulate cognitive function.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients.
• Document client progress and report any concerns to healthcare professionals.
Requirements
• Experience in patient care, particularly in hospice or assisted living settings.
• Knowledge of first aid and ability to respond to emergencies.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Ability to perform lifting tasks safely while ensuring client comfort.
• Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to care.
• Familiarity with medication administration protocols is an advantage.
• Driving licence required.
• Home care experience: 3 years (required).
• GCSE or equivalent qualification preferred.
