FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Emperor’s Gate Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our team.
The successful candidate will contribute to our vision of meeting the health needs of our patients. Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in an NHS GP practice is essential, along with phlebotomy experience. A valid phlebotomy training certificate is required.
The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive administrative and multidisciplinary clinical team, including GPs, Nurse and Clinical Pharmacists.
We aim to develop positive, supportive and professional relationships with every patient, clinician and allied professional we interact with.
Your Responsibilities include:
• Support clinical staff with patient care, including taking observations (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, weight) and recording medical information.
• Perform phlebotomy (valid phlebotomy training certificate required) and other routine clinical tasks, such as NHS Health Checks and/or Annual reviews, where trained and competent
• Maintain accurate patient records using clinical systems (e.g., System One).
• Act as chaperone as required. Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
• Ensure the clinical area is adequately stocked and prepared for each session
• Ensure clinical waste is removed from the clinical area and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
• Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients and staff.
• Support health promotion initiatives and provide basic advice on lifestyle and wellbeing.
Work schedule
Expected hours: 15 per week
