Situated within beautiful gardens and grounds, the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) is a leading national centreof excellence and one of the longest-running charities and independent hospitals in the UK. 

Set in a stunning Grade II listed Victorian building, the RHN provides adult person-centred services across the entire care pathway—from post-acute rehabilitation to end-of-life care—for people with complex neuro-disabilities and their families. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Specialist Nursing Home at RHN as a Health Care Assistant. Based on Haberdasher’s House, you will be supporting young adults with learning disabilities and complex medical needs.

Haberdasher’s House is a 12-bedded home providing 24-hour, round-the-clock holistic care for young adults with learning disabilities. We provide high-quality, person-centred support tailored to each individual’s needs, including complex clinical care, alongside assistance with communication, behaviouralsupport, and daily living. Our focus is on promoting dignity, independence, and quality of life within a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment. We also work closely with residents’ families, offering ongoing support, guidance, and reassurance.

You will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team, working closely with our residents to support all aspects of daily living, including personal care, while promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and complex clinical needs. Our twelve-bedded service supports residents with a range of high-dependency requirements, including tracheostomies, ventilated care, behaviouralcomplexities, and communication difficulties, with some individuals having no formal verbal communication.

This role requires a strong understanding of person-centred care, the ability to respond to complex health needs, and a compassionate and patient approach. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential.

Your Responsibilities include:

• Providing personal care plus daily living support promoting resident dignity and independence consistently.

• Assisting with complex clinical needs including tracheostomy care plus communication support effectively.

• Collaborating within multidisciplinary team managing behavioural complexities plus family liaison.

• Working rotating day/night shifts including weekends maintaining 24-hour care continuity.

Work Schedule

Hours of work: 150 hours over a 4 week period (approximately 37.5 hours per week).

You Will Have

• A health or social care related degree or equivalent qualification.

• Previous experience of working within a multidisciplinary team within health or social care.

Requirements

• Right to work in UK essential

• Previous experience of working in a health or social care support role.

• Experience working with residents with a learning disability and complex medical needs.

• Qualification to GCSE or equivalent.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• A good command of both written and spoken English.

• An ability to carry out manual handling tasks.

• Able to work flexible shift pattern including weekends and nights.
