FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Birkbeck’s School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences seeks a Lecturer in Cybersecurity to expand their new undergraduate programme and develop postgraduate provision. You’ll pursue internationally excellent research while designing/delivering engaging courses, supervising projects and contributing to a vibrant research culture in Discrete Mathematics, Data Science/AI and Logical Methods. This role supports diverse evening-study students in central London, fostering intellectual growth through innovative teaching and public engagement.
Your Responsibilities include:
• Teaching across formats from small tutorials to large lectures, developing materials and convening modules in Cybersecurity and Computer Science.
• Supervising student projects, providing academic guidance and supporting diverse learners.
• Conducting research in Cybersecurity, contributing to School objectives and collaborative projects.
• Participating in outreach, administration and enhancing public understanding of the discipline.
Work Schedule
Full-time 35 hours per week with flexible arrangements typical for academic roles, accommodating Birkbeck’s evening teaching model.
You Will Have
• Strong research track record and teaching experience at undergraduate/postgraduate levels in Computer Science/Cybersecurity.
• Effective communication, presentation skills and commitment to diverse student engagement.
• Ability to collaborate across research themes and innovate teaching methods.
Requirements
• PhD or equivalent in Computer Science or closely related discipline.
• Experience teaching/leading modules with knowledge of Computer Science teaching strategies.
