FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Intelligence Officer – Cryptoasset, you will join the anti‑money laundering cell within the Intelligence team, supporting civil and criminal investigation teams, the wider Insolvency Service and external partners by delivering high‑quality cryptoasset intelligence that underpins fair and open markets and protects victims of fraud. You will focus on analysing and investigating cryptoassets and related technologies such as Decentralised Finance (DeFi), managing competing priorities, shaping policy and contributing to continuous improvement in how the agency understands, seizes and manages digital assets.

Your Responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of cryptoassets and related technologies to support projects, policy development and operational decision‑making.
• Support the development of agency policy on cryptoassets, including investigation, seizure, secure storage, forfeiture and realisation.
• Work with intelligence analysts to help deliver the agency’s first organisation‑wide crypto threat assessment.
• Drive continuous improvement on cryptoassets, DeFi and related technologies across the Insolvency Service.
• Maintain, update and quality‑check investigation logs, intelligence records and task trackers on designated intelligence and case management systems.

Work Schedule

Hybrid civil service model with flexibility; minimum of 60% of working time expected in the workplace (office, site visits, court, etc.), subject to business need.

Requirements

• Interest in, or knowledge of, cryptoassets and similar technologies.
• Basic understanding of corporate structures.
• Ability to follow processes, communicate clearly and prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to work with sensitive material, using sound judgement, discretion and adherence to information‑handling and security requirements.
• Willingness to study towards relevant cryptoasset‑investigation qualifications, including Chainalysis Digital Asset Fundamentals and Certified Compliance Analyst.

• National salary range £30,000–£31,415; London salary range £33,000–£34,252, with new entrants usually starting at the band minimum.
