The role is primarily one-to-one support, with 2:1 support required at certain times depending on my care needs, appointments, activities and plans. The balance of 1:1 and 2:1 support can vary from day to day, so flexibility is important. You may work independently or alongside another support worker as part of a 2:1 arrangement.

This is not a casual role. Reliability, consistency and commitment are essential, and the role involves supporting me both at home and in the community.

Essential Criteria

You must be;

Female

Non-Smoker

Aged 25+ (for insurance purposes)

Experienced & confident driver (including motorways and long journeys)

I am looking for someone who is calm under pressure, proactive, organised and comfortable working independently while also being a good team player when 2:1 support is required. Good communication, IT and administrative skills are important, as I use support with communication, typing, emails, online shopping, research and general administration.

About Me

I am in my 30s and have complex healthcare needs, including tracheostomy care, skin care, eye care and medication management. I am blind and use a wheelchair.

I consider myself intelligent, hard-working, caring and down to earth. I enjoy being active, keeping busy and getting things done efficiently. My interests include gym sessions, aromatherapy and wellness, dining out, shopping and getting out into the community.

Every day is different, so I need someone who can use their initiative, think practically and adapt to changing circumstances. I have a busy lifestyle and like things to be organised and completed efficiently, so I need someone who can match my pace, mindset and enthusiasm.

The Role

This is a one-to-one complex care and support role, with 2:1 support required at certain times. Responsibilities include supporting with complex healthcare needs, tracheostomy and airway-related care following full training, personal care, medication management, skin and eye care, mobility and wheelchair support, driving to appointments and activities, community access, shopping and errands, cooking fresh meals, light household tasks, and assistance with emails, typing, online shopping and research.

At times, you will work alongside another support worker as part of a 2:1 arrangement, so you should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.

The Person I Am Looking For

I am looking for someone who is reliable, consistent, proactive, organised, adaptable, calm under pressure, emotionally intelligent, respectful, trustworthy and willing to learn. You should be a good communicator, confident working independently and able to build a positive, professional one-to-one working relationship.

Experience and Training

Previous experience in complex care is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided, particularly around my medical and care needs.

This role may suit someone with experience as a Complex Care Support Worker, Complex Care Assistant, Healthcare Assistant (HCA), Clinical Support Worker, Support Worker, Community Support Worker, Personal Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Rehabilitation Support Worker, Nurse, Paramedic or Mental Health Support Worker.

Formal healthcare experience is not essential. I am also open to someone with strong life experience who has the right attitude, maturity, compassion, work ethic and willingness to learn.

If you are interested in joining my team, please send your CV and a short personal statement explaining why you are interested in the role, what relevant experience or skills you have, and why you feel you would be a good fit.
