Adult Outdoor Outreach Worker

Part-Time | 18 Hours per Week

SOS (Social Outreach Services CIC) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Adult Outdoor Outreach Worker to join our established team.

About the Role

As an Adult Outdoor Outreach Worker, you will provide person-centred support to adults with autism, learning disabilities, and additional support needs, enabling them to access outdoor activities and engage with their local communities.

You will work on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis, supporting individuals to participate in a range of pre-planned activities that promote wellbeing, independence, confidence, physical activity, and social inclusion.

Every day is different and may involve activities such as walking on local moorland, exploring reservoirs, cycling, swimming, visiting community venues, or participating in other outdoor pursuits tailored to individual interests and goals.

Working Hours

  • 18 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • 3 x 6-hour shifts
  • Flexibility required to meet service needs
  • Immediate start available

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver person-centred outreach support to adults with autism and learning disabilities.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging outdoor and community-based activities.
  • Support individuals to achieve personal goals and outcomes.
  • Promote independence, choice, dignity, and inclusion.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with individuals and their families.
  • Conduct dynamic risk assessments and follow health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with safeguarding requirements.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a supportive team.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for the outdoors and an adventurous spirit.
  • Enjoys being physically active and working in outdoor environments.
  • Is comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is reliable, compassionate, and person-centred in their approach.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understands or is willing to learn about autism, neurodiversity, and learning disabilities.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to their own vehicle.
