FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

Support Worker – Flexible – Days, Nights and Weekends

At Woodlands Specialist Care, we are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to provide high standards of care and quality of life to support individuals with highly challenging and complex behaviours (forensic background advantageous).

You will play a crucial role in empowering individuals to live fulfilling, independent lives while providing the necessary assistance to overcome challenges and achieve personal goals.

Your Responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain daily living skills, helping them gain independence and confidence.

• Reintegrate into the community, fostering social connections and a sense of belonging.

• Manage and support their medication, ensuring health and wellbeing.

• Participate in activities they enjoy, promoting engagement and personal fulfilment.

• Explore new hobbies and leisure interests, encouraging creativity and fun.

• Access education, training, or personal development opportunities to build skills and confidence.

• Stay safe in their home and community, providing guidance and reassurance as needed.

Work schedule 

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week

Flexible – Days, Nights and Weekends

You will have

• Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths

• Level 2/3 Health and Social Care qualifications or relevant training is desirable.

Requirement 

• Experience working with vulnerable adults or children, ideally with complex needs or a forensic background (advantageous).

• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain tasks and instructions in a way that is easily understood.

• Active listening skills to understand service users’ needs, concerns, and preferences.

• Interpersonal skills to build trust, maintain positive relationships, and provide effective emotional support.

• Resilience, patience, and problem-solving abilities to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining accurate records and following care plans.

• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the support provided.
