FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for a Data & Analytics Adviser to run and present detailed statistical analysis to provide high quality and accessible insights for our members and the ABI Executive Team. You won’t just crunch the numbers, you’ll also present data creatively in a way that engages the media and other stakeholders to add value to our wider work.

Why work here?

When meeting us, you’ll quickly discover that the best thing about the ABI is the people. We’re hugely proud that 98% feel the ABI cares about their wellbeing and we are empowered to bring our whole self to work without fear of judgment.

We work at the forefront of policy development – helping to get things right before they are implemented and ironing out bumps where they are identified in existing rules.

Our team is made up of people who are new to insurance, those who are highly experienced, and everyone in-between, so we welcome people from all industry backgrounds.

What’s the job?

● Using your advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools, produce high quality analysis on a range of data and management information sources.

● Provide commentary and insight on the key trends and findings from the data, presenting results in reports in an accessible manner tailored to your audience.

● Present findings to key stakeholders in a confident and engaging manner.

● Develop your insurance and long-term savings market knowledge through regular engagement with ABI policy teams and members, as well as attending external and internal seminars, events, roundtables and committee meetings.

● Help identify potential new data subscribers and commercial revenue propositions.

● Work with colleagues to help leverage data more effectively. Support work on analytical problems and develop bespoke solutions where appropriate.

● Collaborate with your team, sharing best practice and new ways of working through regular knowledge shares and team meetings.

● Work with the Data & Analytics Assistants in delivering the day to day running of the Statistics Helpdesk and ABI Subscriptions Service.

● Proactively identify and take forward opportunities for process improvements including expanding automation within Data & Analytics team projects.

What skills do you need?

● Research and analysis skills: you can deliver research projects that use a range of data sources to draw relevant conclusions, explain complex concepts, and consider the wider economic context throughout. Ideally you’ve done this in a Financial Services environment.

● Data expertise: you can analyse large raw data sets and make sense of the insights and trends, putting them into real-world context for your audience.

● Data manipulation tools: you’re an advanced user of Microsoft Excel, SQL and Power BI. A bonus if you know Python too.

● Identifying and communicating trends: you love using data to spot trends, identify the potential implications of these trends, and communicate trends in an engaging way.

● Relationship building: you enjoy collaborating with others and make your work accessible for your audience.

We encourage you to apply, even if you don’t have all the skills above right now.

Throughout the interview and assessment process, we will be looking for you to demonstrate our values; We are Brave; We take Ownership; We are Appreciative; We are Human and We are Curious.

How do I apply for this job?

Follow the application link and you’ll be taken to our simple online application form. You’ll upload your CV alongside answering a couple of questions to understand more about your experience and there will be a short, timed multiple choice test.

Do we offer flexible/hybrid working?

Yes – we are open to flexible, part time and/or job share working – please let us know if this would be your preference. We work in a hybrid way with at least 40% of our time in the office.
