FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

A Home Care Assistant to provides essential personal, practical, and emotional support to individuals in their own homes, helping them maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life. This role involves assisting with daily living activities while following individual care plans and promoting wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

Personal Care

● Assist with washing, bathing, dressing, and grooming

● Support with toileting and continence care

● Help with mobility, transfers, and use of aids

Daily Living Support

● Prepare meals and assist with eating and drinking

● Support with medication (prompting or administration, as trained)

● Light household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and tidying

● Assist with shopping and errands

Emotional & Social Support

● Provide companionship and emotional reassurance

● Encourage independence and social engagement

● Support clients to attend appointments or social activities

Health & Safety

● Follow individual care plans and risk assessments

● Observe, monitor, and report changes in health or wellbeing

● Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment

● Adhere to safeguarding, confidentiality, and infection control policies

Documentation & Communication

● Accurately record care provided and report concerns

● Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals

Skills & Qualities Required

● Compassionate, patient, and reliable

● Good communication and interpersonal skills

● Ability to work independently and follow care plans

● Respect for privacy, dignity, and diversity

● Basic literacy and record-keeping skills
