FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated female Care Worker to join our team. This role comes with a skilled worker visa sponsorship if required. The successful candidate will provide essential support to individuals in a home care setting, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and well-being. This role requires a commitment to delivering high-quality care while fostering positive relationships with clients and their families.
Duties
- Administer PEG feeding, including preparation of feeds, maintaining equipment, and monitoring for complications.
- Support individuals with epilepsy.
- Support individuals with oral suctioning needs.
- Assist with personal care (washing, dressing, continence care, mobility) while promoting dignity and independence.
- Monitor, record, and report any changes in the individual’s health and wellbeing.
- Recognise and respond promptly to medical emergencies, including PEG-related complications.
- Support with medication administration in line with training and policies.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, families, and the wider care team to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records, incident reports, and health observations.
- Adhere to infection control, safeguarding, and health & safety policies at all times.
- Participate in regular training, clinical competency checks, and supervision to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills.
Skills
- Proficient in English, both spoken and written, to facilitate clear communication with clients and colleagues.
- Strong IT skills for maintaining records and using care management software.
- Excellent communication skills to build rapport with clients and effectively convey information.
- Experience in a home care setting.
- Ability to follow care plans meticulously while being adaptable to the changing needs of clients.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in complex care, healthcare assistant, or support work.
- Training in PEG feeding, oral suctioning and epilepsy.
- Experience in moving and assisting individuals with complex care needs.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and health & safety practices.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
Education:
- GCSE or equivalent (required)
Experience:
- seizure management: 2 years (required)
- caring for children and young adults: 1 year (required)
- Administration or care coordination: 2 years (preferred)
- complex care: 1 year (required)
- PEG feeding: 1 year (required)
- oral suctioning: 1 year (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (UK) (required)
- Level 4 or 5 Health and Social Care diploma (preferred)
- Level 3 Health and Social Care diploma (preferred)
