Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Male Care Support Worker to provide high-quality care and assistance to male residents in a supportive living environment. This vital role involves delivering personalized care that promotes independence, dignity, and well-being. The ideal candidate will be energetic, patient, and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those they serve. You will work closely with residents to support their daily activities, health needs, and emotional well-being while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing for changes, and reporting concerns promptly
- Administer medications following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and nutrition management to promote healthy eating habits
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and perform heavy lifting safely to support mobility needs
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, resident progress, and incident reports in accordance with healthcare standards
- Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to foster a positive community atmosphere
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s), memory care, and hospice care practices
- Certifications in first aid, CPR, and medication administration are required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are advantageous
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or other special needs is desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate patient handling equipment like Hoyer lifts effectively
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams and supporting residents’ emotional needs
- A caring attitude combined with patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to caregiving
