Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team. In this privately funded role, you will provide essential care and support to an 8 year old child with various medical needs, assisting them in leading fulfilling lives while promoting their independence and well-being. You will work closely with the child within their own home as a 2:1 staffing team 24/7.
You need to be flexible enough to work a mixture of days, sleeps and waking nights on a reasonable rota system.
Duties
As a Disability Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing personal care and assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Supporting clients with meal preparation and ensuring proper nutrition.
- Assisting with medication administration as per prescribed guidelines.
- Engaging clients in meaningful activities to enhance their quality of life.
- Implementing behaviour management strategies to support clients with challenging behaviours.
- Offering companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being.
- Conducting light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Assisting with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary.
- Maintaining accurate records of client progress and reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience in working with children or adults who require complex care, children’s home experience, etc
- Familiarity with personal care
- A background in nursing or caregiving is beneficial for providing high-quality support.
- Experience in childcare can also be advantageous when working with younger individuals requiring support. Requirements:
- Right to live and work in the UK
- A complete and up-to-date CV listing all employment
- References covering the past five years and all regulated activity
- Friendly, sociable, and committed to supporting people with additional needs
- Experience preferred
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or a new one with a child’s barred list check.
- Ideally you would be a driver as they have their own transport. The location is awkward to get to on public transport so please bear this in mind before applying.
What We Offer:
- Guaranteed hours (Full-time & Part-time options)
- Monthly pay with excellent rates:
- £13.80/hr (Mon–Fri)
- £14.05/hr (Weekends)
- £80/Sleep in
- £18.50/hr (Bank Holidays)
- £25.50/hr (Christmas Day & New Year’s Day)
Shift patterns to suit your availability:
- Day Shift15:30–22:00
- Sleep in 2000/2200-0630
- Weekends 0830-2000
School holiday shifts change to…
Day shift 08:30-20:00
Sleep in 2000-0630
The odd waking nights also available.
