The Role

Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to deliver large-scale and complex capital projects within the Trust’s Strategic Estates masterplan.
Working closely with the Programme Director and internal teams, you will take responsibility for the full lifecycle of high-value NHS capital schemes — from business case to delivery and post-project evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and coordinate major NHS capital projects to agreed time, cost, and quality standards.
  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams, consultants, and contractors.
  • Prepare and present business cases, project initiation documents, risk and issue logs, benefits tracking and evaluation reports.
  • Develop project budgets, manage resources, and report on financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, HTM/HBN guidance, CDM regulations, and NHS Estates standards.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement with clinical and non-clinical groups, maintaining effective communication at all levels.
  • Support governance and reporting requirements to ensure transparency and control.
  • Capture and share lessons learned to inform future capital programmes.

About You

Essential:

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Project Management, Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • PRINCE2, APM, or equivalent project-management qualification.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale, complex projects in estates or construction settings.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with ability to influence at senior level.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and project-planning tools (MS Project or similar).

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering NHS or public-sector capital works.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts and Agenda for Change governance processes.
  • Professional membership (RICS, CIOB, or equivalent).
