FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Salvation Army Support Worker within Portsmouth Homeless Family Service across three Lifehouses supporting 45 vulnerable homeless families (couples, single parents, pregnant mothers) plus 46 tenancy-supported families, you’ll develop/deliver high-quality person-centred support programmes promoting choice/control across 24 weekly hours including evenings/weekends + one 24-hour on-call per 3-week rota, empowering sustainable life outcomes through busy multi-site operations.

Your Responsibilities include:

• Develop/deliver support programmes promoting client choice/control.
• Address homeless family support needs enabling positive life choices.
• Manage caseloads leading external agency meetings.
• Ensure health/safety/safeguarding legislation compliance.
• Maintain accurate records across busy residential environment.

Work Schedule

24 hours per week permanent part-time.

Evenings + weekend availability essential.

One 24-hour on-call per 3-week rota.

Southsea base + Portsmouth-wide travel across Lifehouses/tenancies.

You Will Have

• Knowledge of homelessness/benefits/safeguarding legislation.
• Proven vulnerable client support achieving positive outcomes.
• Strong time management managing busy caseloads/meetings.
• Excellent verbal/written communication + IT proficiency (Microsoft).
• Positive attitude + team/people management skills.

Requirements

• UK Right to Work essential (no sponsorship available).
• Enhanced DBS (adult + child barred lists).
• Weekend/evening flexibility + 24hr on-call willingness.
