FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Elderly Care Home Carer with AS CARE SERVICES, you will provide compassionate, high-quality personal care and support to senior residents in a care home or assisted living setting, helping them maintain dignity, independence, and wellbeing. This role focuses on assisting with daily activities, medication administration, and implementing personalised care plans, particularly for those with dementia or Alzheimer’s, while offering emotional companionship and monitoring health changes. You will work flexibly within a team environment, handling challenging behaviours with sensitivity and contributing to a safe, comfortable living space for elderly individuals.

Previous experience in nursing homes, dementia care, or hospice settings is highly desirable, along with a caring attitude and excellent communication skills to build trust with residents and collaborate with healthcare professionals. The position emphasises person-centred care that promotes quality of life through practical support, social engagement, and safe mobility assistance.

Your Responsibilities include:

• Assist residents with personal care tasks including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.

• Administer medications according to prescribed care plans and monitor for any side effects or changes.

• Support meal preparation, feeding, and ensure dietary requirements are met for residents’ health needs.

• Monitor and record residents’ health status, behaviour issues, and condition changes for care team review.

• Implement individualised care plans, including specialisedAlzheimer’s and dementia strategies.

• Provide emotional support, companionship, and encourage participation in social or recreational activities.

• Perform light housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.

• Drive residents to medical appointments or outings when required, following safe transport practices.

• Collaborate with healthcare professionals on case management and ongoing patient care.

Work Schedule

Part-time, permanent contract.

Flexible shifts based on service needs at the Southminster CM0 7TR location.

You Will Have 

• Prior experience in care homes, home care, or assisted living (preferred).

• Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, and dementia/Alzheimer’s care techniques.

• Certification in first aid (highly desirable).

• Strong organisational skills for managing care plans and daily tasks.

• Excellent communication skills with empathy for residents and team collaboration.

• Ability to safely handle heavy lifting for mobility assistance.

• Valid driving licence (advantageous for transport duties).

• Compassionate, professional approach to challenging behaviours and flexible team working.

Requirements

• 1 year experience in a care home setting (required).

• Enhanced DBS check.

• Ability to work in person at Southminster CM0 7TR.
