FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Part Time Support Worker with Nationwide Community Care, you will provide compassionate, person-centred care to residents in a care home setting, assisting with daily living activities and promoting their overall wellbeing. This bank hoursrole involves delivering personal care, medication support, specialised dementia care, and emotional companionship while working on a rolling rota that includes every other weekend. You will monitor health changes, report to healthcare professionals, and ensure residents feel supported and valued in their home environment.

The position requires lone working confidence and prior care experience, making it suitable for dedicated individuals committed to enhancing lives through skilled, empathetic support. Sponsorship is not available, and a UK driver’s licenceis desirable for flexibility across the service.

Your Responsibilities include:

• Provide personal care and support to residents, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.

• Administer medications as prescribed and assist with medication management following established protocols.

• Deliver specialised care for individuals with dementia, using appropriate behavioural management techniques.

• Offer emotional support and companionship to promote residents’ mental wellbeing and quality of life.

• Monitor and report any changes in residents’ health, behaviour, or needs to appropriate healthcare professionals.

• Support people with mental health illnesses through sensitive, understanding care.

Work Schedule

Part-time bank hours on a rolling rota.

Includes working every other weekend.

Shift patterns to be agreed based on service requirements.

You Will Have 

• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and colleagues.

• Confidence in lone working within a care home environment.

• Compassionate, dedicated approach with a commitment to residents’ wellbeing.

• Ability to handle rolling rotas, including weekend availability.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a care-related role (essential, including home care; 1 year preferred).

• Knowledge of patient care practices, procedures, medication administration, and dementia care techniques.

• Experience supporting people with mental health illnesses.

• GCSE or equivalent (preferred).

• English language skills (preferred).

• UK driver’s licence (desirable).

• Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not offered).
