You will learn on real projects, supported by experienced engineers, building the skills you need for a career in low-energy and net zero buildings.
About Lùths Services
Lùths Services is a progressive and growing building services consultancy delivering low-energy, sustainable solutions across housing, education, public sector, commercial, and retrofit projects. We work closely with clients and communities to help deliver net zero outcomes through thoughtful design, energy modelling, and practical engineering.
The Graduate Apprenticeship
You will be employed by Lùths Services and will enrolled on a GA degree programme (subject to eligibility and university entry requirements). Study typically involves day-release or block-release alongside your work. We will support you with mentoring, structured on-the-job learning, and the evidence you need for your course.
What you will do (with support)
● Support mechanical and electrical building services design on live projects, working under a project leader.
● Help produce calculations, drawings and schedules (e.g., heating/cooling loads, ventilation rates, pipe/duct sizing).
● Assist with low-carbon solutions (e.g., heat pumps, MVHR, solar PV), and learn how they are selected and integrated.
● Prepare clear notes, technical reports, and specifications.
● Attend design team meetings and site visits, and manage your tasks to agreed deadlines.
What we will teach you
● How renewables and building services systems work (heating, ventilation, cooling, hot and cold water, electrics and lighting).
● How to use industry tools and templates (Excel/Word, CAD/3D tools where applicable, and engineering calculation methods).
● How to communicate professionally with clients and the wider design team.
● How to think about energy, carbon, and practical buildability in every design decision.
Who we are looking for Essential
● A school leaver with a genuine interest in engineering, buildings, energy or sustainability.
● Strong numeracy and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
● Good communication and a positive attitude to learning.
● Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, email) and willingness to learn new software.
● Ability to travel to project sites as required.
● MUST BE LOCATED IN THE UK and eligible for UK GA degree programme
Entry qualifications (typical)
We welcome applications from candidates with Highers (normally 3, including Maths and English, plus a STEM subject). If you have a relevant Foundation Apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or other equivalent qualifications, please apply – we are happy to consider different routes into the Graduate Apprenticeship.
Desirable
● Some awareness of building services or renewables (school projects, work experience, hobbies, etc.).
● Interest in being a professional engineer and low carbon /net zero design
● Experience using CAD or similar drawing tools.
● A driving license (helpful but not essential).
