Salary :  £45,000 – £55,000 per annum (based on proven skill)

Master Engine & Gearbox Technician – All Makes & Models

Visa Sponsorship: Available for eligible overseas candidates

About the Role

We are a busy, professional automotive workshop specialising in advanced mechanical repairs, including engine rebuilds and gearbox repairs across ALL vehicle makes and models.

We are seeking a Master Technician capable of diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding petrol and diesel engines and transmissions independently. This role is strictly for experienced powertrain specialists.

Key Responsibilities

Engine Work (Petrol & Diesel – All Brands)

• Diagnose complex engine faults (mechanical & electronic)
• Strip, rebuild, and refit engines
• Timing chains & timing belts
• Head gaskets, cylinder head repairs, bottom-end rebuilds
• Turbocharger faults and replacements
• Oil pressure, balance shaft, and cooling system repairs

Gearbox / Transmission Work

• Diagnose gearbox and drivetrain faults
• Remove, strip, rebuild, and refit gearboxes
• Work on manual, automatic, DSG, CVT transmissions
• Repair valve bodies, mechatronics, torque converters
• Clutch and dual-mass flywheel replacement
• Gearbox servicing, adaptations, and coding

General

• Use advanced diagnostic tools
• Road test vehicles and ensure high-quality repairs
• Maintain clear job records and workshop standards

Essential Experience (NON-NEGOTIABLE)

• 8+ years’ experience in engine and gearbox repair
• Proven engine rebuild AND gearbox rebuild history
• Experience across multiple manufacturers
• Ability to work fully independently

Applicants with only servicing or remove-and-refit experience will not be considered.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Maintenance or overseas equivalent
• Manufacturer or specialist training is an advantage
• Overseas qualifications accepted with strong experience
