Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced and patient Support Worker to assist one of our service users in the Barking & Dagenham area. The client has bipolar disorder and a learning disability. Therefore, the ideal candidate should have experience with working with such individuals and possess a calm temperament and caring nature to effectively support such service users. Responsibilities will include:
Duties:
– Provide personal care assistance such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
– Assist with mobility and physical therapy exercises.
– Administer medication under the direction of healthcare professionals
– Support clients with meal preparation and feeding
– Monitor changes in health status and report to medical staff
– Engage clients in activities that stimulate their physical and mental well-being
– Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients
Skills:
– Proficient in heavy lifting techniques to assist clients with mobility
– Experience in hospice care or nursing background is advantageous
– Skilled in patient care, case management, and dementia care
– Knowledge of medical terminology for effective communication with healthcare providers
– Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and empathy
– Capable of driving to transport clients to appointments or outings
– Familiarity with behaviour management techniques in a care home setting
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
- Weekend availability
Experience:
- Home care: 2 years (preferred)
