We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Night Shift Support Worker specialising in adult learning disabilities. The successful candidate will provide high-quality care and support to individuals with learning disabilities during overnight hours. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, ensuring safety, and promoting independence within a supportive environment. Previous experience in assisted living, patient care, or related fields is highly desirable. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of adults with complex needs while working within a professional and caring team.

Responsibilities

  • Support adults with learning disabilities during night shifts, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the night.
  • Assist with personal care tasks such as hygiene, grooming, and mobility support.
  • Administer medication in accordance with prescribed instructions and organisational policies.
  • Monitor behavioural patterns and implement behaviour management strategies as required.
  • Prepare and serve meals or snacks suitable for individual dietary requirements.
  • Engage residents in meaningful activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction.
  • Document observations, incidents, and care provided accurately in accordance with organisational procedures.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, including medical or behavioural crises, following first aid protocols.
  • Assist with light domestic duties such as laundry, communal cleaning and deep cleaning tasks on a rolling rota
  • Maintain a safe environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and reporting hazards promptly.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home care, dementia or Alzheimer’s care, or home care is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of patient care practices including medication administration, behaviour management, and first aid certification is advantageous.
  • Experience in caring for individuals with dementia, hospice needs, or other complex conditions is desirable.
  • Valid driving licence is beneficial for supporting residents outside the organisation’s premises if required.
  • Ability to work independently during night hours while maintaining high standards of care and professionalism.
  • Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills and patience when supporting adults with learning disabilities.
  • Physical capability for heavy lifting when necessary and assisting residents with mobility needs.
