The majority of shifts take place on weekdays during daytime hours, Shift times may vary depending on the needs and routines of the individual being supported.

We are looking for compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic Support Workers to join our team, supporting adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs across various locations throughout Edinburgh.

This is a rewarding community-based role where no two days are the same. You’ll be supporting a range of individuals to live as independently as possible while encouraging choice, confidence and inclusion within their local communities.

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you’ll work with a variety of service users, each with their own personalities, interests and support needs. Some individuals enjoy active days out, while others prefer quieter routines and familiar environments.

Your role may include supporting people to:

  • Visit cafés and enjoy meals out.
  • Go for walks and spend time outdoors.
  • Access local shops and services.
  • Attend appointments and social activities.
  • Travel by public transport or taxi.
  • Participate in hobbies and leisure activities such as the gym, cinema, music or community groups.
  • Maintain daily routines and develop independent living skills.

We’re looking for people who are:

  • Caring, patient and dependable.
  • Passionate about making a positive difference.
  • Comfortable supporting people in community settings.
  • Excellent communicators who can build trusting relationships.
  • Flexible and willing to support a variety of individuals and routines.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience in health and social care is essential.
  • Some services require experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, epilepsy or limited verbal communication, so relevant experience is advantageous.
  • Manual handling experience is beneficial for some placements.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

As for pay, we’re a living wage employer. You’ll have a reliable income and there are always opportunities to increase your shifts if you want to top up.
