About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Post Mortem Support Radiographer – Technical to join a specialist Post-Mortem CT (PMCT) Imaging Service within a forensic mortuary environment.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to coronial and forensic investigations by delivering high-quality CT imaging on deceased individuals. You will be part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team supporting complex forensic, trauma, and major incident cases.
Responsibilities
- Perform post-mortem CT (PMCT) scans in line with national and professional standards
- Support the day-to-day operation of a specialist imaging and mortuary service
- Work closely with Pathologists, Radiologists, Coroners, and Police teams
- Maintain accurate imaging records using PACS and mortuary systems
- Assist with safe handling and preparation of deceased individuals
- Support audit, quality assurance, and service improvement activities
- Contribute to training, teaching, and research where appropriate
- Deputise for senior staff when required
Essential Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
- HCPC registration
- Minimum 6 months post-qualification experience
- Experience in CT scanning
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Commitment to high-quality patient care and continuous professional development
Desirable Experience
- Experience or interest in post-mortem / forensic imaging
- Knowledge of PMCT techniques (e.g. angiography, ventilated PMCT)
- Experience working in a mortuary or with deceased individuals
- Understanding of the UK coronial system
- Experience in audit, teaching, or research
- Postgraduate qualification (or working towards one)
