Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Care Assistant to join our reputable care home. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to our residents, supporting their wellbeing and independence. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with leadership qualities and a genuine passion for senior care. The Senior Care Assistant will be responsible for supervising care staff, developing personalised care plans, and ensuring residents’ needs are met with dignity and respect. A valid driving licence is desirable to facilitate transportation duties when required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support care staff to ensure the delivery of compassionate, person-centred care in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Assist residents with daily activities such as personal hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and medication management.
  • Develop, review, and implement personalised care plans in collaboration with residents, their families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of care activities and resident progress using IT systems efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, team members, and external healthcare providers to promote a collaborative approach to care.
  • Lead by example to foster a positive environment that promotes dignity, respect, and independence among residents.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
  • Support the organisation’s leadership team in supervising staff rotas, training sessions, and performance evaluations when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within a care home or senior care environment is essential.
  • Nursing background preferred
  • Supervising or leadership experience within a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with residents, families, and team members.
  • Good IT skills for maintaining accurate records and updating care plans efficiently.
  • Valid driving licence preferred to support transportation needs of residents or staff when required.
  • Knowledge of care plans, safeguarding procedures, and health & safety standards relevant to senior care.
