FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Mencap are seeking Relief Support Workers to join our incredible team in Ashbourne, Derbyshire.
As a Relief Support Worker, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.
From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.
Working in a supported living home to two gentlemen in the Ashbourne area of Derbyshire as part of a very well established team of support workers.
Your daily tasks will involve:
- Supporting with medication administration, stock control including ordering of medication when required.
- Supporting to ensure all medical needs are addressed
- Supporting with intimate personal care
- Meal preparation support following SALT guidance
- Supporting with household tasks
- Managing finances, paying of bills and budgeting.
- Teaching of life skills
- Supporting out in the community to meet friends and attend social activities. Using of public transport
- Recording and monitoring using our online inhouse system, What Matters Most
What we’re looking for:
- A genuine passion for supporting others
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.

Shift times:
All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life!
Our shifts runs from 7am to 3pm, 3pm to 10pm plus a sleep in, 9am to 3pm. This is a 24/7 service so flexibility on shifts required. We are not able to offer fixed shifts currently due to the needs of the people we support.
There is also a non contractual sleep-in available where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £63.70.
At this time we are unable to offer sponsorship.
All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
