FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Female support worker Driving: Essential+ own car with business-use insurance (daily college drop-off/pick-up)
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable support worker to provide person-centred support to two service users in the community. The role includes escorting a female wheelchair user to college twice a week, one day of personal care at home, one day of community engagement, and college drop-off/pick-up twice daily for a second service user. Hours are split around college times and vary by term and need. This role is crucial in promoting independence, safety and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Provide dignified personal care to a female service user in line with care plans and training.
- Escort to/from college; liaise with college staff; ensure safety and timely attendance.
- Community support (outings, activities, confidence-building).
- Assist with meals, hydration and nutrition as required.
- Prompt/administer medication only as per care plan/competency and record accurately.
- Maintain clear, timely care records and report changes in condition promptly.
- Follow infection control, moving & handling and safeguarding procedures.
- Support mobility (including safe use of equipment) and undertake safe moves/lifts with training.
- Drive/transport service users to college, appointments and activities as required.
Skills
- Female only — Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9, Equality Act 2010 (intimate personal care for a female service user).
- Full UK driving licence, own car and business-use insurance (essential).
- Able to work split/variable hours around college times (only apply if you can commit to these patterns).
- Strong communication, empathy and reliability.
- Experience in home/community support or college escorting desirable (training provided).
- Basic first aid and moving & handling (training provided if needed).
- Enhanced DBS, satisfactory references and right to work in the UK are essential.
Visa sponsorship: We may consider Skilled Worker sponsorship after a minimum of 6 months’ satisfactory service, subject to business need, role eligibility and UKVI rules. Sponsorship is not guaranteed.
