FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Power BI Developer to join our data team on a full time permanent basis. This is a remote position (UK based).
The successful candidate will help us deliver high-quality dashboards and analysis that support decision-making across First Bus. You’ll work closely with business teams to develop reports and improve existing dashboards.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a few years of Power BI experience who’s looking to grow within our data team.
What you’ll be doing
- Build and maintain Power BI dashboards used by teams across the business, ensuring they are reliable, easy to use, and aligned to stakeholder needs
- Work with analysts and operational leads to gather requirements and translate them into effective reporting
- Help improve and refine our existing dashboards – e.g. updating filters, adjusting logic, fixing bugs, or improving performance
- Apply consistent styling and layout conventions to support a standardised user experience
- Support internal users with Power BI queries and act as a friendly point of contact for basic troubleshooting or guidance
- Assist with access control and workspace management, including applying Row-Level Security where needed
- Ability to support the business with ad-hoc analysis when necessary
What we’re looking for
- Around 2–4 years of experience working with Power BI in a professional setting
- A solid understanding of dashboard development, layout design, and how to make reports both functional and user-friendly
- Basic familiarity with shared datasets, data models, and performance optimisation techniques
- Good SQL skills and a working knowledge of how reports interact with upstream data sources
- Able to review and troubleshoot SQL queries to ensure report accuracy and performance, and collaborate with data engineers when upstream issues arise
- An organised, detail-oriented mindset – you’re someone who cares about maintainability and consistency
- Comfortable working with stakeholders to understand needs, troubleshoot issues, and iterate on reporting solutions
- An interest in growing your skills across areas like reporting governance, data modelling, and Power BI deployment processes
