The role:

The Disabled Children’s Team is a specialist social work team responsible for the assessment of disabled children and young people up to 18 years old, they also provide key information and advice as well as bespoke packages of support to meet their assessed needs.

Person-centered thinking and planning is at the heart of the service. The dedicated team provides both social work and care management services, alongside other agencies, such as schools and health services to develop inclusive practice to benefit children and young people.

The team is caring and welcoming. The team are well supported and have very confident social workers who can offer help and support. High quality supervision is offered and the dedicated approach from the team ensures children are at the centre and they achieve good outcomes.

  • As an experienced children’s social worker, you will have effectively manage a diverse caseload, ideally having worked in this service area previously
  • As a children’s social worker, you will be confident in undertaking direct work and completing high-quality assessments within set timescales 
  • Within the role of children’s social worker, you will be responsible for complex decision making, being able to clearly identify levels of risks, always ensuring the safety and welfare of children and young people, using your professional judgement, critical reflection and evidence-based tools 
  • Our Social Workers are innovative and creative in using a wide range of social work interventions to minimise risk and improve outcomes, ensuring that the child/young person’s voice is heard throughout 
  • You will be confident to build and maintain positive professional relationships, with excellent communication and engagement skills 

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and up to date registration with Social Work England as a qualified Social Worker.
