FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you interested in working for a charity that makes a real difference to the lives of vulnerable adults?

The Lewisham Assessment & Recovery Centre is a busy, dynamic service providing accommodation for up to 51 people, many of whom have complex needs such as alcohol misuse, substance misuse, mental health issues and a history of offending.

We’re looking for a dedicated cleaner to help maintain high standards of hygiene and comfort in our homeless hostel. This role is essential in supporting the wellbeing and dignity of our residents.

In this role you will:

  • Maintain cleanliness in communal areas, bathrooms, kitchens, and resident rooms to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Carry out routine and deep cleaning tasks, including mopping, dusting, waste disposal, and restocking cleaning supplies.
  • Report maintenance issues or health and safety concerns promptly to the appropriate team members to support the wellbeing of residents and staff.

About you

Candidates will need to have good working knowledge of Health and Safety, a basic knowledge of IT and be comfortable working alone. You will possess effective communication skills, approach your work and clients in a non-judgemental way including those displaying challenging behaviour.

You will also be passionate about wanting to contribute to the space in the service and creating a psychologically informed environment (PIE), of which a big part is how the space looks and feels, ensuring it is as welcoming for our residents as possible.

St Mungo’s are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We strongly encourage applications from all under-represented groups.
