Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our team. This role is vital in providing high-quality care to individuals in care homes or through home care services. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be proficient in English, and have the ability to follow care plans while utilising IT systems effectively. A driving licence is preferred to facilitate transportation between care locations.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility support.
- Follow individual care plans to ensure personalised and effective support for each resident.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care and progress using IT systems.
- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and other healthcare professionals to provide updates on health status and care needs.
- Support the emotional well-being of residents through companionship and active listening.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in healthcare practices.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a care home or home care setting is desirable but not essential.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to drive is advantageous for roles requiring travel between locations.
- Familiarity with creating and following care plans is beneficial.
- Proficiency in using IT systems for documentation and communication purposes.
- A compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to work well within a team as well as independently when required.
