FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re hiring a Head Chef to lead one of Edinburgh’s busiest and best-loved kitchens.

Society Bar & Kitchen is an all-day Scottish bistro serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner seven days a week. We handle 400 to 800 covers a day, so consistency, spee,d and quality are absolutely key.

But this role isn’t just about operations. We’re looking for a chef with an excellent palate, someone who can both enhance our popular existing menu and elevate our evening offering. If you know how to balance crowd pleasers with creative specials, this is the gig for you.

We want a hands-on leader not a clipboard chef. Someone who can build team culture, handle pressure and raise standards with calm authority.

WHAT’S ON OFFER

• £50,000 base salary
• £10,000 plus annual service charge
• £5,000 performance-based bonus
• Full-time salaried role 48 hours per week
• 28 days holiday

• Relocation costs are covered if relocating from more than 100 miles
• Private apartment provided for the first 2 months if relocating from more than 100 miles

THE ROLE

• Lead a brigade of 10 plus chefs in a high volume, high quality kitchen
• Maintain consistency at scale 400 to 800 covers per day
• Evolve and improve our core menu while developing the evening offering
• Own kitchen operations stock, GP, rotas, hygiene, team training
• Be present, decisive and a positive influence on the pass

YOU’LL NEED

• Proven experience as a head chef running a high-volume kitchen for at least 10 years
• A refined palate and confidence in menu development
• Strong leadership and mentoring ability
• A calm head under pressure
• Deep respect for Scottish produce and bistro-style cooking
