As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing and supporting various Fleet projectsentory projects. Primary duties include:

Lead and support projects through the project lifecycle; from project initiation to project completion in alignment with F&I project management best practices and the City of Calgary’s Corporate Project Management Framework (CPMF).

Define and formally document project outcomes, scope, and deliverables that support business objectives in collaboration with the Executive Sponsors, Project sponsors, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and other interested parties.

Ensure project dependencies and constraints are managed.

Communicate and facilitate with project team members and interested parties through project documentation and project meetings on a regular basis. This includes regular project status reporting, trends, issue identification, and liaising with project sponsors and interested parties to ensure project success.

Define the project budget requirements through project estimating practices and obtain necessary approvals from the Project Sponsor and leadership.

Identify required resources (internal and/or external) and negotiate with other section leaders for the assignment of required personnel. Ongoing management of project governance, roles, and responsibilities.

Create and update required Project Management Documentation to ensure the project is compliant with the Project Management Quality Assurance Standard (PMQA).

Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using corporate tools and project management best practices.

Manage project progress and financials in accordance with City of Calgary’s Corporate Project Management Framework (CPMF) and Finance methodologies (e.g., time-tracking, financial reporting, change orders, accruals, and forecasting).

Manage and document project risks and issues.

Conduct project closeout, including operational handoff, sustainment, and lessons learned reviews.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field with at least 5 years of experience effectively influencing and transforming organizational culture to drive operational and organizational improvements; OR
  • A graduate degree in Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field with at least 3 years of experience effectively influencing and transforming organizational culture to drive operational and organizational improvements.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, Organizational Change Management (OCM), Change Management (PROCI), and experience working with labor relations and Human Resource related projects.
  • Success in this role requires a proven ability to deliver projects on time while effectively managing resources and collaborating with major partners.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, negotiation skills, time management, and the ability to influence people at all levels of an organization.
